Begin by considering the characters of Dorine and Elmire side-by-side. They are two women of very different circumstances and standing, but how do they compare? Collect and take notes on examples from the play that demonstrate their thinking, actions, and attitudes. As you analyze and think about your chosen examples and their differences and similarities, you might develop an argument that says something about how the play engages with larger social contexts such as economic class or gender roles/identities. Regarding class and gender: also consider how these characters are comedic leads (more so than the men, perhaps) and what details or things about their characters are supposed to be funny and why.
