Developing Effective Teams

Access and read, “Capturing Team Synergy: A Three-Step Formula for Effective Teamwork”.

Using the Typical Characteristics of Empowered Teams in Chapter 7, evaluate a positive team experience and a negative team experience.  Using the theories and concepts in Chapter 7, identify the top four factors that contributed to the positive experience. Explain.  Examine what could have been done differently.  Then, using the theories and concepts in Chapter 7, identify the top four factors that contributed to the negative experience. Explain.  Examine what could have been done differently. 

Using one or both articles from this week, describe how and why accountability and fear increase or diminish team effectiveness?  Which type of leadership is most effective with teams?  In all situations? What are the supportive rules and how should they be established in a team?  Evaluate your class group in light of these factors. When did your group transition into a team?  What stage has your team progressed through, to date?
