Assignment 4: Social stratification and Inequality in the news

This assignment is worth 5 pts.

Stratification and Inequality are, explicitly or implicitly, always in the news. The many things that happen in our society are affected by and at the same time affect patterns of social stratification and inequality.

Search and download ONE news item featured during the period January to May 30, 2020 in a newspaper in YOUR HOME COUNTRY that you consider relevant to the topic of SOCIAL STRATIFICATION AND INEQUALITY. News in any language is ok; you will be required to translate parts of it anyway (see points a and b, below)

Using NOT MORE THAN THREE PowerPoint slides, please do the following:

a. Slide 1: On TOP of the slide, write the complete author, publication date, article title, and source of the news. Follow the APA format for citing newspaper references. If the article is in a language other than English, translate the title into English, also following the APA style. What is the APA format/style? Thats part of the assignment, do some research 🙂

b. Slides 1 and 2: Summarize the key points of the news article; yes, in English please. DO NOT simply cut and paste. Read and process the information, then reorganize it in a manner that is appropriate for a PPT presentation (e.g., minimum font size of 18 for Times New Roman; use key words and phrases more than full sentences). Place your summary in slide 1. You may use an extra slide (slide 2).

c. Slide 3: On Slide 3, Briefly state or explain the relevance and implications of the news article for our study of social stratification and inequality. How brief? Your judgment; just enough so that the PPT slide is NOT overloaded with information. Keep within the bounds of what makes a good PPT slide and presentation.
