This article establishes that in the US it is a known reality that there are racial and ethnic disparities that affect health outcomes. These impact health costs and makes our health system economically unstable.
Lack of insurance, language barriers, uninsured children, fresh food access, food deserts and poor transportation are identified by the authors as pathways and areas in which racial and ethnic inequities become evident and eventually affect chronic diseases.
This article also provides links to further readings and resources for in depth analysis of these pathways.
