Assignment Objective:  Identify the nursing role and key elements of Gerontological Nursing Practice

Purpose: Expand knowledge of Gerontological Nursing Practice with enhanced application to clinical practice. 

Process:  Consider you are a Certified Gerontology Registered Nurse, asked to develop a presentation for graduate registered nurses interested in completing the ANCC Gerontological Nursing board certification examination.  Research and develop your professional and personal thoughts on Best Gerontology Practice.  Write a narrative describing your presentation proposal, including the following key topics listed below.

Support your narrative with the current literature.  Minimum of 3 pages, 2 references, 1 citation, and references no older than 5 years.

Include the following topics

Description of Gerontology Nursing and Gerontology practice settings
Gerontology Nursing Roles, including significance of and application of each role
General goals of the Gerontology Nurse
Daily Gerontology client needs: physiological, psychological, emotional and spiritual
Legal aspects of Gerontology Nursing, including ways to minimize/reduce risk
Protection of Gerontology patients rights.  Include a discussion on Long Term Ombudsman Program
Favorite Element of being a Gerontology Nurse and Favorite Professional Resources (minimum of 3) and
The Future of Gerontology Nursing
