Instructions for Short Writing Assignments

Locate a short article from a newspaper, magazine, web or other source of public information that fits in with our course topics.  Consider the article in light of what you have learned about the topic from our class readings or discussions and express your views in a one page paper.

Each one page paper should include three elements:

The first paragraph should introduce the reader to the article and briefly summarize the main point or the section of the article that you intend to focus on.
The second paragraph should connect the article to the course topic and tie the reading in with something we have discussed in class or something that was presented in the reading assignment.
The third paragraph should articulate your thoughts about the article and the related course topic after you have compared and contrasted the ideas in the article with the information studied on the related topics in class.
