Argumentative Essay Assignment

For your third essay you will be arguing (and analyzing and describing) a viewpoint you hold. Argumentation is the intellectual effort to change a person’s view to your own. As you can see in “The Coddling of the American Mind” Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt are arguing that in the name of emotional well-being, college students are increasingly demanding protection from words and ideas they dont like and because of this they are creating a disaster for higher educationand mental health.Their audience is clearly those who demand protection from words and ideas they don’t like and those who provide the protection.
This is your next task: to identify a point of view you hold and then to identify your audience. And finally to write an essay that will change their minds. Be sure to use your own experiences.

Here are the requirements:
* Choose a point of view you wish your reader to adopt.
* Consider who your audience is and what rhetorical strategy will best convince your readers.
* Make sure the point of view you devise is neither too broad for an essay nor too narrow (nor factual).
* Write a focused Argumentative Essay using detailed facts to support your argument.
* Title the essay with a title that captures the unique essence of the essay.
