Homework 3: Current Issues

There has been some debate for many years about the best way to meet the educational needs of students with intellectual disabilities. Approaches have ranged from self-contained classrooms to mainstreaming, with several advantages and limitations related to each approach. For this assignment, you will explore and generate an opinion about the best approaches for educating children with Intellectual Disability.

Step 1: Identify at least one peer-reviewed article (must use the library provide APA style references) related to the debate described above.

Step 2: Integrate information from your article(s) with other knowledge you have, or obtain, about this issue to form an informed opinion about the following issues:

Do you think children with Intellectual Disability should be placed in regular classes (why or why not)?
What factors should be considered in making this decision for individual children?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of placing children with Intellectual Disability into regular classes?
Formatting: Papers should be a minimum of 1 complete page and no more than 3 pages (double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-pt font, 1″ margins on all sides).
