Research Requirement:
    This position paper requires that you research the issue/topic beyond the material presented in course lectures and readings. You can consult and use course readings and materials, but you also must consult and incorporate research from a minimum of four (4) outside academic resources (from peer reviewed journals or books) are required. The position paper will be graded based on the depth of your understanding and critical assessment of course material, and your ability to construct and support a coherent position on the issue and integrate the outside research into your arguments

Option 5: Application of the Theory
  This option enables you to apply a theory to a specific instance of rhetorical action. For instance, you could analyze and evaluate a speech using the three classical rhetorical appealsHow does the speaker build ethos in the speech with the audience? What emotions (pathos) do they appeal to in developing their main points? What are the logical arguments and reasoning employed in building their persuasive case? Was the use of these appeals effective or not given the situation and the audience for the speech?
