Each posting must reflect on a recent media-related news item. You do this by submitting a post summarizing and reacting to an item from one of these websites:
Variety: http://www.variety.com/ (Links to an external site.)
Hollywood Reporter: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ (Links to an external site.)
Advertising Age: http://adage.com/ (Links to an external site.)
MediaPost: https://www.mediapost.com/ (Links to an external site.)
Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting Blog: http://fair.org/blog-entries/ (Links to an external site.)
Your reaction can be a reflection on the implications of the news story, or whether you believe it is a good or bad trend, and why. To maximize credit, posts should be at least 300 words long, be on topic, be from one of the above sites, be professionally written, make factually correct claims, offer a claim or argument beyond just summarizing the news item, use full-sentences and correct grammar/spelling, be in your own words (except in using short direct quotes, indicated by quotation marks), indicate what website and date the story came from (citing your source), and be respectful to others in the class.
