Basic College Admission Essay
* There is a specific topic it needs to be on, but the writer can use as much creative reign or freedom as they want or see fit. 🙂
Here is the copied and pasted admission prompt:
“Share a meaningful experience and how this has helped shape you in your preparation for college. This could be related to your passions, commitments, leadership experience, family or cultural background”.
I’d like the essay to be about the experience of working at an assisted living facility full time as a teenager and how it impacts ones world view and motivation. Put simply, I would ideally like the essay to be on how it’s a tough job but I’m grateful for all the experiences and lessons I’ve learned etc. and its impact on my life now and moving on into the future.
I know this is weird but I’m having a hard time getting something good put together myself, I struggle with creative writing.
There are no specifics that need to be added or mentioned (if I want to later, I can always add those myself) but it does need to touch on at least a few of the aspects listed in the prompt such as it’s impacts on “my” passions, commitments, leadership experience, family or cultural background.
Again, feel free to look at it as a creative writing piece. I understand it’s supposed to be personal about my life experience but you can just write a response you feel accomplishes what the prompt asks adding the information I listed above. It’s an admissions essay, so the more personal and meaningful the more it will stand out and be helpful to me.
