Session 3.

For this week’s discussion, select three examples from Wild Swans that illustrate how Communism affected the personal relationships and the traditional roles of mother and daughter, husband and wife, or daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. How would you describe these changes — were they effective in liberating women from their past roles? Was there a price to pay for these changes for women — and men?

Post a few of your reactions to the film,” From Confucius to Mao”.  Did it teach you something new?

2.  In Wild Swans, read to page 190, the end of Chapter 9(When A Man Gets Power, Even His Chickens and Dogs Rise to Heaven’-living with an incorruptible man).
