Write an essay in response to the readings, videos, or class discussions. Consider your principal task to be making and developing a point, claim, or major idea that is debatable, insightful, and requiring supporting evidence. Many writing topics will emerge during class discussions, and therefore you need to attend class regularly. Choose a topic that interests you. 550-650 words. Your essay will be rated according the criteria outlined in the SUNY rubric found on pp. 4-5 of the syllabus. Observe MLA conventions with respect to the following:

Signal phrase to introduce primary and secondary sources
Parenthetical citations where required
Works Cited page.
