English and Literature MLA

Any topic (writer’s choice)

A separate introduction that accomplishes three goals:
Captures the readers interest with an attention-getting opener
Introduces and gives general background about the topic
Includes a thesis statement that takes a clear stand on a debatable topic and explains why that stand is right
Body paragraphs that:
Each focus on ONE main idea, which is clearly expressed in your own words in the topic sentence and reinforced in the concluding sentence.
Include quotes and paraphrases from four sources to support/prove why your stand is correct. Make sure you clearly explain how all quotes relate back to your thesis by integrating them with clear introductions and explanations.
A description of what someone who disagrees with you would say, and an explanation of why they are wrong.
A conclusion that:
Reinforces your thesis, and why the stand you have taken is correct.
Suggests a solution or comments on the significance (the so what) of your idea.
Leaves readers with an amazing thought to ponder.
