For this essay, you will choose one character from a short story and analyze that characters motivation for his or her acts, words, thoughts, etc. throughout the course of the story. What inner and/or outer forces are at work in driving the character to do whatever he/she does? You should incorporate specific evidence from the text in supporting your ideas.
