The purpose of reviewing information in this chapter is to gain a basic understanding of pregnancy issues, risks, hazards and interventions that can be offered to help promote good health for the mother to be and the infant. In addition, you will also gain information about newborn and infant development from a biopsychosocial perspective. You will learn about the growth and development milestones of infancy, early cognitive processing, emotional regulation, temperament, attachment styles for those ages 0 to 2 years.
