RESPONSE PAPER #1 FIRST WRITING ASSIGNMENT
Write a response to our class discussions on the topic of IDEOLOGY IN FILM.  At least 800-1000 words (no more than 1200 word, MLA style). Double spaced and 12 point font. This will be roughly 4 pages. This assignment is due Due on 10/6, must be uploaded to Blackboard as a Microsoft Word Doc .

1) In your own words, how has learning about ideology in film impacted the way you watch films and media now?

2) Provide concrete examples of films (not covered in class). Reference at least 2 different scenes. These 2 scenes can be from the same movie OR 2 different movies. Each scene you analyze should be about 5 to 10 minute in length.

3) When describing and analyzing these 2 scenes – how is the ideology of the film communicated through the visual language (specifically the cinematography) make sure to reference the terminology we have learned in class.

a) Specifically, reference the cinematography terminology section of the “Engaging Cinema” textbook, the scene by scene analysis worksheet ) Reference a minimum of 7 terms (shots, camera movements, angles, POV, etc) in your paper.
4) To make your point, make at least 2 references (remember to cite the specific page number) to the “Engaging Cinema” book (we are reading for class).
