Schindler’s List (1993)

Introduce the story of the film. What is it about? Who directed it? Who are the stars? What year was it produced and in what country? And so forth. At the end of this one introductory paragraph, you should have your thesis which is the main idea upon which you build your whole essay on. What is your thesis? What are you trying to say about the story of this film? Can you narrow your thesis down to just one line such as, The hero saves  millions of jewish lives in a time when to be Jewish was akin to having the leprosy. If you choose something similar to this, then you have to explore the hero (who is he and what does he do and why does he want to save the jewish people?) and in every paragraph talk about the elements that makes him a hero or a figure that is Christ-like who loves all people. Or rather the journey he goes to become a good man and a hero to many.

2. BODY
You can have as many paragraphs as you want, but I suggest that you keep the paragraphs to 5-10. Explore the thesis (the central idea) of your paper and illustrate it further in each of the paragraphs, using specific scenes or lines from the film.

3. CONCLUSION
This is basically one paragraph that concludes and closes the thesis of the film.

Watch the movie just for the story. Then watch it again. This second time watch it with a pen and a paper and take notes on the acting, on the cinematography and on the directing and on how a particular scene which is shot in a particular way affects you. After you finish this, do some research about the movie. Read some reviews online about it. Take notes and then start writing the paper. Write the first draft, put it away for a day or two, then rewrite it and have a friend or a family member read it (proofread it). Once you are ready to turn it in, please turn it as an attachment with Microsoft or Apple’s Pages so as to see the pages.
