Racial Profiling

Prejudice refers to any undesirable or unfriendly insolence directed to a person due to the fact that they belong to some marginalized group in the society. According to (Museus.et.al, 2015), discrimination is a type of prejudice. Therefore, discriminating simply means prejudicing. Aggression on the other hand occurs when one seeks to cause agony to another person. Aggression usually takes two forms. Hostile aggression which occurs when one reacts with feelings of anger with a sole purpose of causing pain to the individual or instrumental aggression which that takes a form which aims at only motivating the victim without necessarily causing pain to them. The humiliation of the group is associated to every individual who belong to that particular group. This is because the group members may be perceived as lesser beings or are known to have some tainted character.  Example of such groups are mentally ill people, the poor, criminals and many others.

Officers feeling more superior over the offenders has also contributed to the aggressive behaviors. In most cases, offenders are perceived to be the bad people in the society and very few people want to be associated with them in whatever way. This makes others in the society to think of themselves as more important or superior people. This has led to a good number of the officers discriminating and being aggressive to the offenders due to their different levels in the society.
