Marriage: should it privilege the institution or the relationship?  In other words, should marriage revolve around the benefits to/happiness of the spouses, or should it emphasize more the ways marriage can benefit the spouses families and the society?  Explain the distinctions between the two and their consequences.  As you argue for your viewpoint, be sure to consider the benefits/drawbacks of each emphasis to both society and the individual.
