Select an ongoing social change to analyze sociologically. “Ongoing” here means you can trace the development/origins of this change as well as make predictions about what the future might hold. As you know, sociological analysis occurs using both cultural (e.g., norms, values, and ideologies) and social structural components. The latter can utilize either or both levels of social structure (e.g., status and role constellations and/or social institutions). Please present specific examples concerning the change you have selected with regard to culture and structure. Btw since the third unit of the course is concerned with social movements, it’s best to not select a movement as your social change for this first exam. It’s also advisable to select a manageable social change for an essay of this length (i.e., two sides of a printed sheet of paper).
