1. According to Deloria, why did countercultural groups of the 1960’s and 1970’s use Indian images, cultural practices, and/or associations? What were their goals, and what did being “Indian” mean for them?

2. In contrast (or not) what did it mean for the New Age groups of the 1980’s and beyond? What did they associate with being Indian, and what were they hoping to accomplish by utilizing practices and/or concepts that they saw as “Indian”?
